Revolution Against Fascism

The previous article began with the late Franz Neumann on the failure of voting for the lesser evil against Hitler. This was the path chosen by social democrats in Germany like him, those who prioritized saving their own middle-class privilege over stopping fascism. The present article explores the path that the social democrats didn’t choose, the path of what he called “political revolution.”

This isn’t what today’s democratic socialists like Bernie Sanders, AOC, and the “Squad” mean by the phrase. What they mean is a more conservative version of what Neumann was arguing against. They’re advocating a more conservative version of the social democracy that failed against the Nazis

Class Struggle Drag Defense

It’s been clear for a while now that whatever we want to call the “far right,” i.e., fascists, neo-fascists, neo-confederates, or just plain ole’ American conservatism in the 21st century, they’re targeting trans communities across the country. This means that anyone who is trans; anyone who is simply considered by fascists to be gender non-conforming and otherwise anyone who they might view as an “other,” faces a very real and constant threat of violence. The threat exists everywhere and against numerous communities. Fascists nationwide have made it their mission to particularly target what are known as “Drag Story Hours.” In an inspiring display of solidarity, communities have come together to defend these events from the fascists. Unfortunately, defense campaigns have not always been successful.

The American Way of Fascism

We are living through a period of reemergence, rise, and surge of far right and fascist forces internationally. This includes reconstructed fascist political parties and movements from the past, alongside novel and neo-fascist formations taking shape inside capitalist states and electoral systems in the present.
The miasma of fascist regeneration emanates from within the cascading crises of the capitalist system, increasing in both depth and frequency over the last two decades. This crises include recurring episodes of recession and stagnation; imperialist and inter-imperial conflict and war; distress, weakening, and collapse of traditional bourgeois political parties; and the rising frequency and intensity of class struggle, authoritarianism, culminating in both revolutionary and counter-revolutionary movements.

Rise Up to Defend Abortion Rights!

The attempted legal ban of the abortion drug mifepristone hinges on a 150-year old, archaic and previously dormant law called The Comstock Act of 1873, which has been described as “the only realistic way to force through a national ban” on abortions in general. The Comstock Act prohibits mailing anything that could be used in an abortion procedure, so the recent ruling in Texas, if it’s held up by the Supreme Court, would mean “that all abortions already violate criminal law.”

The judge who issued the recent ruling in Texas is Matthew Kacsmaryk, member of an emerging Christian fascist organization called the Teneo Network, whose goal is to “crush liberal dominance” everywhere.

The Quantum Mechanics of Imminent Revolution

This article concludes a three-part series meant to explore a more sensuous, suffering, and passionate materialism rooted in quantum mechanics. The three articles are a continuation of a longer series that has attempted to articulate a revolutionary communist politics, one that learns from the failures of the German left against the Nazis, while paying particular attention to the voices of Marxists who were also Jewish and experienced the rise and rule of fascism first-hand. All this is meant to provide strategic direction in hopes of defeating a possible quasi constitutional fascist coup around the November 2024 elections, then on to our own path towards revolution thereafter.

What Should Revolutionaries Say About Constitutions?

The recent defeat of a proposed new state constitution by voters in Chile was a setback for Left forces. The Constitution, which would have enshrined new rights for Chile’s multiple indigenous populations, guaranteed national health care, granted rights to the environment, and affirmed gender and sexual self-identification; was the product of Chile’s left-center government which won state elections last year.

Left Conformity to the Settler Cult

In his book, Fascism: Theory and History, lawyer and historian David Renton outlined what he called “the anti-fascist wager.” It was a gamble the German left made against Hitler, the extent to which the social democratic (SPD) and communist (KPD) parties accurately perceived the uniquely dangerous threat the Nazi’s posed. This is like the gamble we make within settler Amerikkka against resurgent fascism today. Lives hang in the balance, which is why we start with the above quote from an April 2020 interview Noam Chomsky did with Medhi Hasan, who was then still at The Intercept.

Moving Beyond Settler Colonialism to Oppose Resurgent Fascism in Ameri(kkk)a

Over a year has passed since the January 6th insurrection in DC and, sadly, it’s unclear what we’ve learned. Shortly after that multifaceted coup attempt, sociologist Waldon Bello warned us as to what was coming. Reflecting on his own experiences of US-backed fascism in Chile and the Philippines, he pointed to their source. “America Has Entered the Weimar Era,” he said, that the insurrection “underlies the face of crises to come.”

Fast forward to today; Newsweek warns of the potential for a violent coup come 2024. Generals in the military warn of their own internal civil war, so their ability to “Choose Democracy,” like many hoped in the case that Trump refused to leave, is now off the table. Despite the chorus of warnings, our supposed left leadership chooses to put their heads in the sand. Instead, we must place revolution back on the table, one at the intersection of Clara Zetkin and Ella Baker.

The Solidarity Economy: anti-fascism at the intersection of Ella Baker and Clara Zetkin

This article is a continuation of a previous one titled “Rethinking Revolution for an Age of Resurgent Fascism.” Ella Baker’s work leading the Young Negroes’ Cooperative League (YNCL) from 1930-1933 is here used to further inform today’s anti-fascism. Overall, this article relates Baker’s work to the dissenting views of German Communist Party (KPD) co-founder Clara Zetkin, specifically her views on fascism and the systemic alternative she referred to as a “Soviet Congress for a Soviet Germany.” This was a federation of autonomous councils formed in neighborhoods and workplaces for mutual aid, self-defense, and as dual power to succeed in revolution through general strikes in the event of a Nazi coup.

Abortion Rights Under Attack: What do we do? Stand up, fight back!

The Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) has made it clear in a brief two-hour hearing on December 1, 2021 that there is intent on finding the Mississippi 15-week abortion ban constitutional. In all likelihood this will lead to complete overturning of Roe versus Wade, and begin the outlawing of abortion across the country. If this comes to pass, it will amount to the overthrow of an edifice of essential health practices, hard-fought political rights, and bodily autonomy for more than half of the population.
